Rock & mineral identifier for iPhone
Know what it is.
Point your camera at a rock, crystal, or polished stone. RockLens reads the photo and names the mineral — with hardness, crystal system, and how it forms — the moment you scan.
① The species
One photo tells you what it is.
Every scan returns a named mineral with a clear confidence level, not a vague hunch. See the most likely match, check the alternatives, and confirm the specimen in front of you.

Identifications are for reference only — not a lab assay or professional gemological opinion. A photo can't measure hardness, density, or chemistry; confirm with proper tests when it matters.

② The match
The right mineral, confirmed.
Look-alikes are everywhere — quartz, calcite, and feldspar fool beginners daily. RockLens reads color, luster, crystal habit, and form to match the most likely mineral, with a confidence indicator — confirm it, or pick another candidate if it's off.
- Frame a clean crystal face or fresh break — that's where the mineral shows.
- A confidence ring shows how sure the match is.
- Not quite right? Pick another candidate in a tap.
③ The life list
Your life list, growing.
Save every rock you identify into a personal life list on your device. Sort, filter, and watch your collection of species take shape as you explore — agates, fossils, raw ore, and polished gems alike.

FAQ
Good questions, straight answers.
How accurate is the identification?
Every scan comes with a confidence level so you can judge for yourself. A clear photo of a crystal face or fresh break lands far more reliably than a dusty or wet one. When confidence is low, RockLens shows alternative candidates so you can pick the right match.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Your life list, scan history, and preferences are primarily stored on your device. Optional Sign in with Apple and server-backed family features use an account. We use limited PostHog product analytics and AppsFlyer install attribution without IDFA or cross-app advertising tracking.
What happens to the photos I scan?
When online recognition is enabled, a photo you scan is sent securely to the recognition service to identify the mineral. It is not retained after processing, shared, or used for advertising.
Is anything free?
Yes — the rockhound guides are free to read, in the app and on this site. Unlimited scanning and full mineral profiles are part of RockLens Pro. There is no free scanning tier.
How do I cancel?
Cancel anytime in your App Store account settings. There's no free trial and no lock-in — the subscription simply stops renewing.
Which devices are supported?
RockLens is an iPhone app. Live Activities appear on iPhones with the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen.
